GERD

Fusing timeless melodramatic pop with electronic sonics, the story of GERD begins at the genesis.

The Swedish award-winning artist started rhythmic music classes at the age of one and listening through Queen and Kate Bush records was the highlight of her day.

Determined to find her own sound she went on to challenge her vocal prowess by taking on the art of opera – the sound of GERD emerged where the different worlds collided.

Fresh off her debut album Meet Me In The Blue, GERD pulls us into an immersive and unfamiliar realm with her experimental arrangements and untraditional songwriting.

Whether it’s performing with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, or doing an electric pop up show at San Vicente Bungalows, the critically acclaimed newcomer is known for her euphoric live performances.

INOMI

INOMI comes from a culturally diverse background, being born in Ethiopia with strong Eritrean roots. Growing up in Eskilstuna near Stockholm, he developed a passion for sports, video games, and formed a close-knit circle of friends. He found solace in music through his brother and discovered the art of beatmaking at the age of 14. At first focusing on hip hop instrumentals and house music he eventually found himself remixing songs which unraveled the secrets of song structure.

In 2016, INOMI made a habit of sneaking into a music studio at night with a couple of friends. These ventures ignited a passion for artistic independence, leading INOMI to embark on a solo musical journey in 2020.

Boko Yout

multi-artist who, in merely one year, has managed to place himself in the top tier of bubbling Swedish musical promises with international potential. With a musical style that he calls Afro Grunge, and a creative palette that includes music, fashion, design, and performance art, he seeks to break conventions and perceptions of how to be a young black man. Boko Yout wants to explore new paths – for his own sake as well as for others.

Boko Yout, who previously rapped under the stage name Khan-Ji, is 25 years old and part of a generation that grew up alongside internet culture, social media, and hip-hop. Therefore, it has always been natural for him to approach art from different angles. He started his artistic journey in 2016, but it was when he moved from Örebro to Stockholm in 2017 that his career started to take off. Since then, Paul has moved from hip-hop to rock music, amassing a wide collection of creative tools with which to express himself. When talking about Boko Yout, you should therefore not limit yourself to the epithet vocalist and songwriter. His artistic scope is significantly bigger than that.

In the spring of 2023, Boko Yout’s debut EP AS SEEN ON TV will be released – a project where 8 songs represent the channels of a fictional TV network called Boko Communications. The TV network, Paul says, serves as a metaphor for all the experiences he’s been through in his life – but adapted to fit as entertainment. The project is based on sociologist Stuart Hall’s ideas about representation in the media and how producers in drama, reality TV, and news are drawn to stereotypical narratives. Something that Paul himself very much relates to.

AS SEEN ON TV was released May 26th.

joel

joel is the poster child for happy accidents. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, he was then adopted and raised in a village of 8 people in the countryside of Vimmerby, southern Sweden.

The plan was to start playing the guitar in second grade but when the class was full, he instead picked up and played the classical flute for 13 years. His flute teacher was the one who encouraged him to sing in front of an audience for the first time at age 12 igniting a curiosity in him for performing.

Before enrolling at university to study political science, he decided on a whim to take a gap year. This led him to study jazz in Stockholm and started writing music with a friend at school. One thing led to another, and he got to record a song for Benny Anderson from ABBA’s studio. And then, one week before the school year ended, Benny offered him a deal at his publishing.

His most recent happy accident is the EP “World’s Worst Cowboy” – a love letter to his countryside upbringing where he establishes himself as one of Scandinavia’s strongest lyricists and concept developers. The title track came about after he suffered from deep vein thrombosis, a consequence of a few months of partying harder than usual. “It was like my body was telling me that it’s not made to endure anything remotely cool”. He’s the boy from the woods who doesn’t know how to ride a horse, gets a hangover from two glasses of wine, and catches feelings WAY too easily- he’s literally the World’s Worst Cowboy.

Jackie Mere

Jackie Mere (Jaquelin Brant) is the voice of a new generation. At seven years old she moved with her family from Stockholm to Biskopsgården in Gothenburg, where she started her life’s biggest passion: music. At 10 years old Jackie was singing on the streets of Gothenburg and figured that she belonged on stage. “I realized early that music was one of the strongest/ safest parts in my life and that it would help me through the roughest times which music really has done” Jackie says.

On February 10th, Jackie released the song “It Ain’t Me”, which later follows with an album later this year. According to Jackie herself her musical alter ego is an organized kaos, “you’re going to understand”. Behind the music we can find the producer Andreas Söderlund who has worked with artists as Janice, Annika Norlin, Elias etc

“It Ain’t Me” is basically about being afraid to give your feelings to someone and with various defense techniques withdraw from a person. That you are afraid that you are not capable to give the person what they need. Because you are not there mentally. Therefore you are “happy” with short relationships because that’s what you’re used to and is comfortable with.” Jackie says.

Music has always been an obvious choice for Jackie, she remembers how she started watching Youtube- videos as a young girl and decided music was the only alternative in life. With inspiration from a blessed mixture of artists as Amy Winehouse, Katy Perry, Prince and Whitney Houston.

Virgin Miri

With distorted synthesizers and a saccharin voice, Virgin Miri is the perfect paradox.

Declared “the architect of razorblade pop” by Noctis Magazine, the Swedish multi-hyphenate is no stranger to defying norms – whether it’s as an artist, producer, writer, director or designer.

Hailing from the tiny village of Borrby with a mere population of 930, the New York-based newcomer released her debut single “Basic Ordinary Ugly” to critical acclaim, a song that she produced together with GRAMMY-winner T-Minus – the Canadian hitmaker for Drake, J. Cole,
Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott and more.

Since then, she’s been featured in The FADER, Vogue Scandinavia, performed at the Nordic International Film Festival in New York and graced the cover of Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Pop.

With her genre-blending production, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and infectious pop melodies, it’s only a matter of time before the whole world is singing along to the renaissance woman that is Virgin Miri.
